Sponsor Proposal Page Layouts: Simple, Clean, Elegant

The majority of sponsor proposals are cluttered and unappealing. They come across as unprofessional. To stand out from the competition, create a simple and appealing story and package it in a clean elegant style. Information laden Powerpoint templates won’t accomplish this. They put people to sleep.

Your sponsor proposal is a marketing tool and if it doesn’t look as good or better than the marketing materials of the company you are pitching, your presentation is not likely to get any consideration.

When looking to improve your presentations, take some time to do the following:

  • Gather samples of high quality marketing materials from world class brands and keep these in a folder for future reference. Car, truck, and motorcycle brochures, beautiful ads from lifestyle publications, product catalogues, etc. Save anything that looks simple, clean, and elegant.
  • Use these samples as a benchmark for your sponsor sales materials.
  • Instead of using bulleted pages crammed with information, focus on simple and powerful positioning statements integrated with thought provoking imagery.
  • Keep in mind that your sales materials include anything that represents your brand. Make sure your business cards, letterhead, website, press kits, and your sponsor presentations all look professional.
  • Use outsiders to critique your work. We are all biased towards our own stuff. So if you want to make your marketing materials better, use input from non-biased experienced marketers.

Continue to collect good benchmark samples and refer to them often.
